Hazel thicket (榛叢): the first character is pronounced with the fanqie tu-zhen (zhen). The Huainanzi states: "Zhen means a cluster of trees." The Kaosheng states: "Dense and luxuriant vegetation." The Wenzi dianshuo states: "It takes 'wood' (木) as semantic classifier and has qin (秦) as phonetic component." The second character is pronounced with the fanqie cu-hong (cong). Kong [Anguo]'s commentary on the Shangshu states: "Cong means to gather together." The Shangshu states: "Any gathering of things is called cong." The Shuowen states: "To grow thickly like vegetation is called cong; it takes xin (莘) as semantic classifier and qu (取) as phonetic component." Xin is pronounced with the fanqie tu-jiao (cuo). In the Vinaya text it is written as 叢, which does not form the proper character and is incorrect.
