洒塗（上西禮反韓康伯注周易云洒濯其心也說文洒滌也從水西聲也下杜盧反詩傳云塗附也廣雅云汙也文字典說泥也從土涂聲涂音同上）。

Sprinkle and plaster (洒塗): the first character is pronounced with the fanqie xi-li (xi). Han Kangbo's commentary on the Zhouyi states: "Xi means cleansing one's heart." The Shuowen states: "Xi means to wash clean; it takes 'water' (水) as semantic classifier and has xi (西) as phonetic component." The second character is pronounced with the fanqie du-lu (tu). The commentary on the Shijing states: "Tu means to attach to." The Guangya states: "Tu means to smear or stain." The Wenzi dianshuo states: "Mud; it takes 'earth' (土) as semantic classifier and has tu (涂) as phonetic component." Tu has the same pronunciation as above.
