咀嚼（上疾與反下牆爵反蒼頡篇云咀噍也顧野王云嚼亦噍也廣雅咀亦嚼也說文咀謂含味也並從口且爵皆聲也噍音樵笑反正從鬯作爵正體字也象爵也[鬯-凵+囗]音丑亮反）。

咀嚼 (The first character is 疾 [jí] + 與 [yǔ] fanqie. The second character is 牆 [qiáng] + 爵 [jué] fanqie. Cang Jie pian says: 咀 [jǔ] means to chew. Gu Yewang says: 嚼 [jiáo] also means to chew. Guangya: 咀 also means to chew. Shuowen jiezi: 咀 means to savour in the mouth. Both are derived from 口 with 且 and 爵 as phonetics. 噍 is pronounced 樵 [qiáo] + 笑 [xiào] fanqie. The orthodox character is written with 鬯 as 爵, representing a libation cup. [鬯-凵+囗] is pronounced 丑 [chǒu] + 亮 [liàng] fanqie).
