蛇螫（上音虵正體字也經從也作虵俗字也下聲隻反說文云毒蟲螫蜇也蟲行毒也從䖝赦聲經從赤作𧋒不成字非也）。

蛇螫 (snake sting: the upper character is pronounced 虵, which is the correct form; the sutra writes it with 也 as 虵, which is a vulgar variant. The lower character is pronounced 聲 + 隻 [shì]. The Shuowen says: "The sting or bite of a poisonous insect; insects inflicting venom." Analyzed from 'insect' (䖝) and 赦 as phonetic. The sutra writes it with 赤 as 𧋒, which does not form a proper character and is incorrect).
