掘坑（上群律反考聲穿也斷也從手屈聲下客耕反蒼頡篇坑陷也爾雅墟也郭璞云壍池也古今正字從土亢聲亢音剛或從阜作阬）。

掘坑 (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 群 + 律 [jú]. The Kaosheng says it means to bore through or to dig out; it takes the hand radical [扌] and has 屈 as its phonetic component. The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 客 + 耕 [kēng]. The Cangjie pian says: "坑 means a pit or depression." The Erya says: "It means a ruin or mound." Guo Pu says: "It is a moat or pond." The Gujin zhengzi states it takes the earth radical [土] and has 亢 as its phonetic component; 亢 has the sound of 剛 [gāng]; it is sometimes written as 阬 with the hill radical [阜].)
