溉灌（上紀未反顧野王云溉謂灌注也莊子水潦之溉於田也說文溉猶灌也從水既聲也下官換反顧野王云灌猶沃澍也說文從水雚聲雚音同上）。

溉灌 (for the first character, g- + -ai in fanqie. Gu Yewang says: '溉 refers to channeling and pouring.' The Zhuangzi says: 'The flooding of runoff waters irrigating the fields.' The Shuowen says: '溉 is like irrigating.' It takes water as semantic and 既 as phonetic. For the second character, g- + -uan in fanqie. Gu Yewang says: '灌 is like irrigating and watering.' The Shuowen gives it with water as semantic and 雚 as phonetic; 雚 has the same sound as above).
