慳垢（上苦間反文字集略云慳謂愛惜財也文字典說云悋惜也從心堅聲也下鈎厚反顧野王云垢謂不潔清也文字典說云垢穢濁也從土后聲）。

慳垢 (for the first character, q- + -ian in fanqie. The Wenzi jilüe says: '慳 refers to begrudging wealth.' The Wenzi dianshuo says: 'Stingy and begrudging.' It takes heart as semantic and 堅 as phonetic. For the second character, g- + -ou in fanqie. Gu Yewang says: '垢 refers to being unclean.' The Wenzi dianshuo says: '垢 means foul and turbid.' It takes earth as semantic and 后 as phonetic).
