麁觸（且胡反廣疋麤大也又人之警防亦曰麤鹿性食息自相背慮人獸之害警亦如之故字從三鹿字意也）。

Coarse contact (麁觸: [麁 is] *qie* and *hu* *fanqie* [= *cu*]; the *Guangya* says: "*Cu* means large." Furthermore, man's alertness and guarding are also called *cu*; the nature of deer when feeding and resting is to turn their backs to each other, fearing harm from humans and beasts, and alertness is like this too; thus the character is composed of three deer (鹿), which is the semantic sense of the character).
