Forked road (歧路) (the ancient characters are written in the two forms 𪨵 and [翅-羽+邑], same; fanqie: 渠宜 [qí]; it means branching off. The Erya says: "A road that branches into two directions is called a qí," meaning a forking road that leads straight out. The Shiming says: "When a thing splits in two, it is a qí; this road resembles that." In the Shiji, "Yang Zhu wept at the forked road," which is this).
