誹謗（上匪微反大戴禮云正誹謗之木欲諫之鼓也說文云謗也從言非聲下牓浪反杜注左傳云謗毀也說文義同從言旁聲旁音薄晃反）。

Defamation and slander (誹謗: the first character has the fanqie 匪 + 微. The Dadai Liji says: “Setting up the post for criticism and the drum for wishing to remonstrate.” The Shuowen says: “It means to slander; classified under the radical 'speech' (言) with 非 phonetic.” The second character has the fanqie 牓 + 浪. Du [Yu]'s commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: “謗 means to defame.” The Shuowen shares the same definition; classified under the radical 'speech' (言) with 旁 phonetic. 旁 has the fanqie 薄 + 晃).
