咀嚼（上疾與反蒼頡篇咀噍也噍音慈醮反說文含味也下匠略反顧野王云嚼亦噍也廣雅云茹也說文二字竝從口且爵聲）。

Chewing and masticating (咀嚼): the first character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 疾 + 與. The Cangjiepian says: 'Jǔ means to chew; [chew (噍) is pronounced with the fanqie] 慈 + 醮.' The Shuowen says: 'To hold and savour.' The second character is 匠 + 略. Gu Yewang says: 'Jué also means to chew.' The Guangya says: 'To ingest.' The Shuowen says: 'Both characters take the radical 口 (mouth), and 且 and 爵 are respectively phonetic.'
