Consorts and younger sisters-in-law (妃娣): the first character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 斐 + 微. Gu Yewang says: 'Fēi is like a queen (hòu).' The Liji says: 'The consort of the Son of Heaven is called the queen.' The second character is 提 + 麗. The Erya says: 'When women are born from the same family, the elder born is the sì, and the younger born is the dì.' Guo's commentary says: 'Because they marry together to serve the same husband.' The Wenzidian shuo says: 'Both characters take the radical 女 (woman), and 己 and 弟 are respectively phonetic.'
