埏埴（上設氈反淮南子云挻抑土為器也說文從手延聲從土作埏者非下時軄反孔注尚書云土黏曰埴也說文從土直聲）。

埏埴 (the first character is *she* combined with *zhan* [fanqie: she-zhan]; the Huainanzi says: “挻 means pressing clay to make vessels.” The Shuowen says: “Formed with 手 [扌], with 延 as its phonetic component; written with 土 as 埏 is incorrect.” The second character is *shi* combined with *zhi* [fanqie: shi-zhi]; Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: “Sticky clay is called 埴.” The Shuowen says: “Formed with 土, with 直 as its phonetic component”).
