傲慢（上熬誥反杜注左傳云傲不敬也廣雅傲亦慢也字書倨也說文從人𢾕聲論從心作慠非也下蠻晏反孔注尚書慢輕慢典教也顧野王云慢猶輕侮也說文惰也從心曼聲）。

傲慢 (the first is ao-gao fan; Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: "'Ao' means disrespectful." Guangya says: "'Ao' also means arrogant." Zishu says: "Haughty." Shuowen jiezi says: "It takes ren ('person') as semantic and ao as phonetic." In the treatise it is written with xin ('mind') as 慠, which is incorrect. The second is man-yan fan; Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: "'Man' means being contemptuous of classical teachings." Gu Yewang says: "'Man' is like slighting and insulting." Shuowen jiezi says: "Slothful; it takes xin ('mind') as semantic and man as phonetic").
