憺怕（上譚濫反顧野王云憺恬靜也王逸注楚辭云憺猶安也下普百反子虛賦云怕𠔃無為憺𠔃自持廣雅怕靜也說文無為也並從心詹白皆聲論從水作澹泊非此也）。

Tranquil and calm (憺怕: the upper character has the fanqie tán + làn. Gu Yewang says: '憺 means peaceful and quiet.' Wang Yi's commentary on the Chuci says: '憺 is like settled.' The lower character has the fanqie pǔ + bǎi. The Zixu fu says: 'Calm and doing nothing, serene and self-possessed.' The Guangya says: '怕 means quiet.' The Shuowen says: 'Non-action.' Both are derived from 心 [heart/mind], with 詹 and 白 as their phonetic elements respectively. In the treatise it is written with the water radical as 澹泊, which is incorrect here).
