Kāśyapīya school (飲光部) (in Sanskrit Kāśyapa; Kāśya here means 'light', and pa means 'to drink' in the local language, hence 'Drink-Light'. Drinking Light has two meanings: first, Kāśyapa was an ancient sage who had radiance in his body capable of swallowing other lights so that they would no longer appear; because this arhat is of his lineage, he was named after him. Second, this arhat's human body had a golden color and always possessed brilliance; when compared with a human figure made of Jambū-river gold alongside this arhat's bodily light, the light of the other golden figure would no longer appear, hence the name 'Light Drinker').
