魑魅（又作离螭二形同勅知反下又作𩲐鬽二形同莫冀反說文老物精也通俗文山澤怪謂之魑魅）。

魑魅 (also written in the two variant forms 离 and 螭, pronounced [fanqie: 勅 + 知]; the second character is also written in the two variant forms 𩲐 and 鬽, pronounced [fanqie: 莫 + 冀]; Shuowen jiezi says: "The essence of aged creatures." Tongsu wen says: "Strange apparitions of mountains and marshes are called chīmèi").
