禦捍（下寒旦反杜注左傳云捍衛也捍亦禦也說文云捍被也從手旱聲也）。

Ward off and defend (禦捍: the second character [捍] is fanqie 寒旦 [hàn]. Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan says: "捍 means to guard; 捍 also means to ward off." The Shuowen says: "捍 means to protect against." It is formed with the hand radical [手] and 旱 as phonetic).
