牟尼（經中或作文尼舊譯言仁應云茂泥此云仙通內外謂久在山林修心學道者也）。

牟尼 [Muni] (In the sūtras, it is sometimes written as 文尼. Older translations rendered it as 'Benevolent' [仁]. It should be 茂泥 [mào ní], translated here as 'sage' [仙], which applies to both Buddhists and non-Buddhists, referring to those who have long dwelt in mountain forests cultivating the mind and practicing the Path).
