鞞舍（陛奚反正言吠舍此云坐謂坐賈也案天竺工俗多重寶貨此營求積財巨億坐而出納故以名焉）。

鞞舍 [vaiśya] (Fanqie: 陛奚 [bì + xī, *bì*]. Properly *vaiśya*. Translated here as 'sitting,' referring to sedentary merchants. In India, worldly craftsmen and traders greatly value precious commodities; these people trade to accumulate immense wealth of hundreds of millions, sitting and handling revenues and expenditures, hence the name).
