Discard the world (撥世; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 般末 [bō]. The Zuozhuan states: '撥 (bō) is like cutting off.' The Kaosheng states: '撥 means to reject; it means to eliminate.' The Shuowen jiezi states: '撥 means to govern. It takes "hand" [手] as radical and 發 as phonetic').
