挑眼（上眺彫反蒼頡篇挑抉也韻詮云挑撥也剔除也說文從手兆聲經作挑時用字也）。

Tiaoyan 挑眼 (gouging out eyes: the first [挑 has the] fanqie tiao + diao [tiǎo]. The Cang Jie pian says: "Tiao means gouging out [jue 抉]." The Yunquan says: "Tiao means to poke out [bo 撥] and scrape away [tichu 剔除]." The Shuowen says: "Composed of the hand radical [扌] with zhao 兆 as phonetic." The text of the treatise writes 挑, which was the character in common use at that time).
