庭燎（上定丁反說文從广從廷傳文從火作𭵬非也广音魚撿反廷音庭下力召反鄭注禮記以麻為燭樹於門外曰大燭於門內曰庭燎所以照眾為明也說文作尞也）。

庭燎 (courtyard torch: the first character is pronounced 定 + 丁 fanqie; the Shuowen jiezi says it is derived from 广 and 廷; in transmitted texts, writing it with 火 as 𭵬 is incorrect; 广 is pronounced 魚 + 撿 fanqie; 廷 is pronounced 庭; the second character is pronounced 力 + 召 fanqie; Zheng's commentary to the Liji says, "Using hemp to make a torch, set up outside the gate, is called a great torch; set up inside the gate, it is called a courtyard torch; it is used to illuminate the crowd for light"; the Shuowen jiezi writes it as 尞).
