八篅（示緣反江南行此音又上仙反中國行此音說文判竹圓以盛穀也論文作簞音丹笥也一曰小𥯄也簞非此用）。

Eight grain hampers (八篅: pronounced [shi + yuan >] *chuán*, which is the pronunciation used in Jiangnan; also pronounced [shang + xian >] *shān*, which is the pronunciation used in the Central Plains. The Shuowen jiezi states: "Bamboo split and made round to store grain." In the treatise text it is written as 簞, pronounced *dān*, a square bamboo basket; another source says a small hamper (𥯄); 簞 is not used for this purpose).
