懇惻（古文䛰同口很反通俗文至誠曰懇懇亦堅忍也下古文𢝔同楚力反廣雅惻悲也說文惻痛也）。

Kěncè 懇惻 (sincere and sorrowful) (In ancient script written as 䛰, the same; pronounced with the fanqie 口 + 很. The Tongsu wen says: 'Utmost sincerity is called kěn 懇.' Kěn also means firm endurance. The latter character in ancient script is written as 𢝔, the same; pronounced with the fanqie 楚 + 力. The Guangya says: 'Cè 惻 means grieving.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Cè 惻 means pained.').
