Thunderbolt [霹靂] (the first character is pronounced *pi* + *mi* [pì]; the second is pronounced *ling* + *di* [lì]. The *Wenzi dianshuo* states: 'Pili is a great thunderbolt striking objects; both take "rain" [雨] as semantic classifier and have *pi* [辟] and *li* [歷] as phonetic components.' In the sūtra it is written with "stone" [石] as 礔礰, which are popular characters).
