盲冥（上莫庚反說文云盲無眸子也從目止聲下莫丁反毛詩云冥夜也經作冥俗字）。

Blind and dark (盲冥) (upper: fanqie 莫庚 [máng]; the Shuowen says: "Blind means having no pupils; it is analyzed from eye [目] with mang [亡] as the phonetic." Lower: fanqie 莫丁 [míng]; the Mao Shi says: "冥 means night." The sūtra writes 冥, which is a popular form.)
