刖耳（元厥反考聲云刖刑名也周禮斷足也經作列俗語並無此字也）。

刖耳 [yuè'ěr, cutting off ears]: [the first character is pronounced] 元 + 厥 fanqie. The Kaosheng says: '刖 is the name of a punishment.' In the Rites of Zhou, it means cutting off feet. In the sūtra it is written as 列, which is vulgar usage; there is no such character [with that meaning].
