係念（上雞裔反尒雅係繼也說文係絜束也今亦作繫繫亦連綴也從人系聲系音奚詣反）。

Xinian 係念 (the first character is pronounced 雞裔 [xì]). The Erya says: '係 means to continue.' The Shuowen jiezi says: '係 means to bind tightly.' Today it is also written 繫; 繫 also means to connect together. It takes the person radical with 系 phonetic; 系 is pronounced 奚詣 [xì].
