䁾戾（上眠苾反呂氏春秋云為[蔑-戍+(戒-廾+目)]為盲說文目眵也形聲字下蓮結反說文從戶從犬會意字也經文從目作睙非）。

䁾戾 ("bleary-eyed and crooked": the first character is fanqie 眠苾 [mì]. The Lüshi chunqiu says: 'Making them bleary-eyed and making them blind.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Eye-gum.' It is a phono-semantic character. The second character is fanqie 蓮結 [liè]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Derived from 戶 (door) and 犬 (dog); an associative compound character.' In the sūtra text it is written with the eye radical as 睙, which is incorrect).
