陽爓 (The *fanqie* for the lower character is [j]- + [tɕʰiɛm] (葉壍反). The *Kaosheng* states: 'The appearance of vapor or shimmering air.' The *Shuowen jiezi* states: 'Blazing flames.' It is categorized under the radical 火 (fire) with 閻 phonetic. In the sūtra text it is written as 燄, which is also used interchangeably).
