76.17

斑駁（補角反漢書云白黑雜合謂之駁也說文不純色也從馬爻聲經作駿獸名也非經義也）。

斑駁 (fanqie: 補 + 角). The Book of Han says: 'White and black intermingled is called 駁 (mottled).' The Shuowen says: 'Impure colour.' It takes its semantic classifier from 馬 (horse) and 爻 is its phonetic. The scripture writing 駿 is the name of a beast and is not the meaning of the scripture.
