溫適（上穩魂反鄭箋毛詩云溫顏色和也鄭注爾雅云溫謂和柔也禮記冬溫而夏凊考聲云暖也說文從水昷聲也昷音同上經從火作熅為有兩音非經義故不取也）。

Mild and agreeable (溫適; the first character is fanqie 穩 + 魂. Zheng's annotation to the Mao Commentary on the Classic of Poetry says: '溫 means an agreeable facial expression.' Zheng's commentary to the Erya says: '溫 means harmonious and soft.' The Classic of Rites says: 'In winter keep warm (溫), in summer cool.' The Kaosheng says: 'Warm.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It takes 水 as semantic classifier and 昷 as phonetic.' 昷 has the same pronunciation as above. The scripture writes it with 火 as 熅; because it has two readings and does not fit the intended sense of the scripture, it is not adopted).
