榜楚（上白萌反廣雅榜擊也聲類亦笞也說文從手旁聲笞音癡）。

Beaten and thrashed 榜楚 (the upper has the fanqie bai-meng [pɣæŋ]. The Guangya says: “榜 means to strike.” The Shenglei says: “Also to flog.” The Shuowen jiezi says it is derived from radical 手 [hand] with 旁 [páng] as phonetic. 笞 has the sound chi [t͡ɕʰi]).
