㓷其(冝既反孔注尚書云㓷割也鄭注周禮截其鼻也說文義同從刀臬聲或從鼻作劓通用也臬音言揭反)。

Cutting off their [noses] (㓷其: [㓷] has the fanqie *yi* [ŋ-] + *ji* [-ei], [yi]. Kong's commentary on the Book of Documents says: "㓷 means to cut off." Zheng's commentary on the Rites of Zhou says: "To cut off their noses." The Shuowen jiezi gives the same meaning; derived from 'knife' (刀), with *nie* (臬) phonetic. It is also written with 'nose' (鼻) as 劓, which is interchangeable. 臬 has the fanqie *yan* [ŋ-] + *jie* [-ɛt], [nie]).
