杷搔（上白麻反考聲云杷猶搔也顧野王云以手搔肉曰杷說文從木巴聲也或從爪作爬下掃遭反考聲云摩也說文刮也從手蚤聲蚤音早）。

Raking and scratching (杷搔: the first character has the fanqie *bai* [b-] + *ma* [-a], [pa]. The Kaosheng says: "杷 is like scratching." Gu Yewang says: "To scratch flesh with the hand is called 杷." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Derived from 'wood' (木), with *ba* (巴) phonetic." It is also written with 'claw' (爪) as 爬. The second character has the fanqie *sao* [s-] + *zao* [-au], [sao]. The Kaosheng says: "To rub." The Shuowen jiezi says: "To scrape. Derived from 'hand' (手), with *zao* (蚤) phonetic." 蚤 is pronounced like 早 [zao]).
