脾腎（上婢彌反白虎通云脾之為言辦也所以積釋稟氣土之精也色黃說文土藏也從月卑聲下神忍反白虎通云腎之為言賓也廣雅云堅也水之精也黑陰隅故也說文水藏也從月臤聲也臤音堅）。

脾腎 [spleen and kidneys] (The first character has the fanqie 婢彌 [pí]. The Bohu tong says: '脾 implies 辦 [manage]; that by which accumulated sustenance is distributed and bodily qi is received; it is the quintessence of earth, yellow in colour.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'The earth organ; derived from 月 with 卑 as phonetic.' The second character has the fanqie 神忍 [shèn]. The Bohu tong says: '腎 implies 賓 [guest].' The Guangya says: 'Firm; it is the quintessence of water, black, because it resides in the corner of yin.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'The water organ; derived from 月 with 臤 as phonetic.' 臤 is pronounced 堅 [jiān]).
