幢旄（上濁江反下音毛顧野王云凡旄者皆旄牛尾也施於幢旌之端旄牛背膝胡尾皆有長毛剪其毛以用之也說文從㫃毛毛亦聲也譜從巾作𫷀非也）。

Banners and yak-tail streamers (幢旄): The upper character is [read with the fanqie] 濁江. The lower character has the sound 毛. Gu Yewang says: 'All yak streamers (旄) are made from the tail of a yak. They are attached to the top of banners and flags. The back, knees, dewlap, and tail of the yak all bear long hair; their hair is sheared and put to use.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes 㫃 as radical and 毛 as phonetic. In the register it is written with 巾 as 𫷀, which is incorrect.
