掘墾（群欻反玉篇云掘謂以鍬插發掘地也廣雅穿也文字典說從手屈聲下康很反考聲墾耕也郭注方言云耕墾用力并斸也古今正字從土豤聲也）。

Digging and tilling (掘墾; [the first character] has the fanqie 群欻 [q- + -ū]; the Yupian says: "掘 means to dig and break open the earth with a shovel or spade"; the Guangya says: "To bore into"; the Wenzi dian shuo says: "It takes 'hand' (手) with 屈 as phonetic." The second character has the fanqie 康很 [k- + -ěn]; the Kaosheng says: "墾 means to plow"; Guo [Pu]'s commentary to the Fangyan says: "To plow and cultivate by exerting force with a mattock"; the Gujin zhengzi says: "It takes 'earth' (土) with 豤 as phonetic").
