誣撗（上音無杜注左傳云誣欺也考聲加謗也枉也鄭注禮記誣猶妄也罔也說文加言也從言巫聲也巫音同上下鍠孟反韻略擴非理來也史記縱恣也考聲云不順理也古今正字從手黃聲經文或從木作橫亦通兩用也）。

Falsely and wrongfully (誣撗; the first character is pronounced [wú]; Du [Yu]'s commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: "誣 means to deceive"; the Kaosheng says: "To heap slander upon; to wrong"; Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary to the Liji says: "誣 is like false; to deceive"; the Shuowen jiezi says: "To fabricate words; it takes 'words' (言) with 巫 as phonetic; 巫 is pronounced the same as above." The second character has the fanqie 鍠孟 [hu- + -àng]; the Yunlüe says: "擴 means arriving contrary to reason"; the Shiji says: "Licentious and unrestrained"; the Kaosheng says: "Not conforming to reason"; the Gujin zhengzi says: "It takes 'hand' (手) with 黃 as phonetic"; in the sūtra text it is sometimes written with 'wood' (木) as 橫; both forms are permissible and used interchangeably).
