Holding under the arm (懷挾: the second character has the fanqie 嫌頰 [xián + jiá -> xié]; Zheng's commentary on the *Yili* says: "Holding bowstring and arrow squarely is called *xie* (挾)." He's commentary on the *Gongyang zhuan* says: "*Xie* means holding [intentions] in one's bosom." The *Erya* says: "*Xie* means to conceal." The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: "To hold alongside; it takes the 'hand' radical with *jia* (夾) phonetic"; *jia* is pronounced like 甲 [jiǎ]).
