拋擲（上魄茅反考聲云拋投也埤蒼云拋亦擲也古今正字拋擊也從手拋聲𡯄音浦交反下呈亦反廣雅云擲振也顧野王云剔也古今正字投也從手鄭聲字書正作摘今經文作擲及作拋並俗通用字也）。

Hurling and flinging (拋擲: the first character has the fanqie 魄茅 [pò + máo -> pāo]; the *Kaosheng* says: "*Pao* (拋) means to cast." The *Picang* says: "*Pao* also means to throw." The *Gujin zhengzi* says: "*Pao* means to strike; it takes the 'hand' radical with 𡯄 phonetic; 𡯄 has the fanqie 浦交 [pǔ + jiāo -> pāo]." The second character has the fanqie 呈亦 [chéng + yì -> zhì]; the *Guangya* says: "*Zhi* (擲) means to shake/cast forth." Gu Yewang says: "To discard." The *Gujin zhengzi* says: "To cast; it takes the 'hand' radical with *zheng* (鄭) phonetic." The character dictionaries properly write it as 摘; now in the sūtra text, writing it as 擲 and 拋 are both vulgar characters in common use).
