西耄（下毛報反杜注左傳云耄亂也鄭注禮記云惛忘也說文作𧂕從老從蒿省經從老毛聲也古文俗作𩲘今時不用）。

西耄 (lower character: *mao* + *bao* fanqie; Du's commentary to the *Zuo zhuan* says: '耄 means confused.' Zheng's commentary to the *Liji* says: 'Muddle-headed and forgetful.' The *Shuowen* writes it as 𧂕, derived from 老 with the abbreviated phonetic component 蒿. In the sūtra it is written with 老 and 毛 as phonetic. The ancient and vulgar form was written as 𩲘, which is not used at present).
