靖漠 (upper character: *qing* + *jing* fanqie; Kong's commentary to the *Shangshu* says: '靖 means to plan.' Zheng's commentary to the *Mao shi* says: '靖 means at peace.' The *Shi* says: 'To bring to order.' The *Gujin zhengzi* says: 'Derived from 立 with 青 as phonetic.' Lower character: *mang* + *bo* fanqie; Guo's commentary to the *Erya* says: '漠 means to examine; also pure, quiet, and supremely reverent; also to govern.' Gu Yewang says: 'Peaceful and quiet.' The *Shuowen* says: 'Derived from 水 with 莫 as phonetic').
