慘惕 (upper character: *qian* + *gan* fanqie; 慘 means grieved; the *Guangya* says: 'Covetous.' The *Gujin zhengzi* says: 'Poisonous, cruel; derived from 心 with 參 as phonetic.' Lower character: *ting* + *di* fanqie; Kong's commentary to the *Shangshu* says: '惕 means fearful.' Jia Kui's commentary to the *Guoyu* says: 'Swift.'
