Quiet and serene (恬憺) (the upper character is [pronounced] 牒 + 兼 [dié-jiān > tián]; the Book of Documents says: "恬 means peaceful"; the Fangyan says: "tranquil"; the Shuowen jiezi says it takes the "heart" radical [心] and has 甛 abbreviated for phonetic; the lower character is [pronounced] 談 + 濫 [tán-làn > dàn]; Gu Yewang says: "the mind being tranquil and serene, calm and quiet").
