劇喪（上擎逆方言凡病少愈而加謂之劇顧野王云劇甚也蒼頡篇病篤也古今正字從刀豦聲）。

劇喪, severe illness and bereavement (the first [character is pronounced with the fanqie] 擎 + 逆; the Fangyan states: "Whenever an illness remits slightly and then worsens, it is called ju (劇)"; Gu Yewang states: "Ju (劇) means severe"; the Cang Jie pian states: "Graveness of illness"; the Gujin zhengzi states it has the knife radical and ju (豦) phonetic).
