被帶（上皮媚反廣雅被加也漢書具也杜曰袍也說文寢衣也長一身有半從衣皮聲也下德奈反考聲帶束也字書繫也說文紳也男子服革婦人絲象繫佩之形而有巾故帶字從巾經作戴非經義也）。

被帶 [Donning and girding] (The first character is pi + mei fan. The Guangya says: '被 means to add upon.' The Hanshu says: 'To equip.' Du says: 'A robe.' The Shuowen says: 'Bedding garments, one and a half body-lengths long.' It is from 衣 [clothing] with 皮 as phonetic. The second character is de + nai fan. The Kaosheng says: '帶 means to bind.' The Zishu says: 'To tie.' The Shuowen says: 'A sash. Men wear leather, women wear silk; it depicts the shape of hanging ornaments, and has cloth, so the character 帶 is derived from 巾 [cloth].' In the sūtras it is written as 戴, which is not the meaning in the text).
