兇勃（上許恭反韻麤人也考聲兇惡也恐也又上聲說文擾恐也從人在兇下春秋傳云胄人兇懼是也下蒲沒反禮記悖逆也說文悖亂也從心孛聲也經從力作勃勃壯也健也亦通也）。

兇勃 [Violent and unruly] (The first character is xu + gong fan. The Yun[ying] says: 'A crude person.' The Kaosheng says: '兇 means evil; fearful.' It is also read in the rising tone. The Shuowen says: 'Disorder and terror.' It is from 人 [person] below 兇. The Chunqiu zhuan says: 'The armored soldiers were terrified (兇懼),' which is this. The second character is pu + mo fan. The Liji says: '悖 means rebellious.' The Shuowen says: '悖 means chaotic.' It is from 心 [heart] with 孛 as phonetic. In the sūtras it is written with 力 as 勃: 勃 means robust; vigorous; this is also acceptable).
