淤泥（上於據反字書水中青泥也說文淤滓也玉篇水中泥草為淤淤臭泥也下奴雞反玉篇土得水而爛曰泥）。

Silt and mire (淤泥: the upper character is yu-ju [fanqie]. The Zishu says: "Blue-black mud in water." The Shuowen says: "淤 means sediment." The Yupian says: "Mud and weeds in water constitute 淤; 淤 means foul-smelling mud." The lower character is nu-ji [fanqie]. The Yupian says: "Earth rotting upon contact with water is called mud").
